A Message from Executive Trustee, Dr Kevin Morris.
Here is the first digital version of Piper Magazine. We want to improve communications with this community, and we will produce a new mix of digital and print publications in 2022.
It has become clear that some of the world’s current challenges will result in permanent change. Covid has forced educators to think differently about the importance of the work we do in our classrooms and our approach to teaching. These two years of disruption and lockdowns, with young people missing important opportunities for their socialisation and personal development, have been so disheartening. Now, more than ever before, we must be committed to a learning experience that focuses on developing happy, connected, young citizens of character and confidence.
As we enter a new phase of strategy and planning for Saint Kentigern, we have initiated a number of long-term projects to understand how we can deepen the engagement of our students, improve educational outcomes and most importantly, promote a positive sense of wellbeing and belonging for all. As a proud Old Collegian, I am very committed to staying true to the founding spirit and heritage of Saint Kentigern while also finding new ways for us to engage our students in all the world’s opportunities and the challenges in front of them.
To all our families, thank you for the partnership that you have with us in growing and developing your amazing children; all 3000 of them across our four schools. I would also like to thank all of you for your grace and for the ways in which you have helped us to navigate through the challenges of distance learning and the recent return to school.
I have been in this role for just a couple of months and I am very grateful to the staff and families for the kind welcome that I have received. It is thrilling to see the talent and commitment of our staff on a daily basis. May you find joy and peace this holiday season. We look forward to tackling next year with strength, safety, inclusiveness, and care.
