This year’s Tabloid Sports Day was turned into a week-long online challenge to enable our children, both at school and home, to engage in a variety of activities as they normally would at this annual event.
Our children were tasked with a different sports activity each day, from egg and spoon races and long jump to throwing skills. Children attending Preschool in their ‘bubble’ used the learning spaces to their advantage when giving some of these tasks a go with the support of their teachers. We were encouraged to see all our children geared up to participate and have fun while mastering their coordination and extending their physical abilities.
These activities gave our children the opportunity to experience a ‘sports day’ where participation and trying their best are the order of the day. Our early childhood curriculum advocates for all children to experience an environment where they have opportunities to keep themselves healthy, use gestures and movements to express themselves, and move confidently while challenging themselves physically.
