Chalmers wins inter-house College athletics

Chalmers is on another winning streak – having won House Swimming just a couple of weeks ago, repeating the amazing feat they accomplished in 2020.

With the uncertainty around Covid-19 and restrictions in place, it was a huge relief we were able to proceed with House Athletics as planned. Similar to the year before, events were packed into one day with students encouraged to take part in as many races as possible.

Students donned their House shirts proudly, and with their masks on, streamed onto the lower fields for a day of field and track competition.

Whether they were actively competing for the top three positions or giving their best shot to secure participation points for their House, every student demonstrated a good sporting spirit. Teams on the sidelines cheered and supported their House representatives and the strong camaraderie displayed were a sight to behold.

With points tallied following subsequent races and competitions, it was Chalmers who secured back the title they lost to Cargill last year. Always a strong contender in College Athletics, Chalmers won House Athletics in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and after missing out last year, they can proudly put the House Athletics trophy back in the cabinet in 2022!

Well done to all the students who participated. Thank you to all staff who stood in the scorching heat to time, measure and record.

We look forward to the next major inter-house competition with the College Cross-Country early in Term 2.
