Bella wins top prize in two international music competitions

Our very own music prodigy Ruishan Bella Chen has been recognised on the world stage, winning two international music competitions recently, bringing the total international music accolades she has received to four in the last two years.

Girls’ School student Bella has been awarded first prize at the Charleston International Music Competition’s 2022 Golden Classical Music Awards and is the only pianist outside the US to be ranked in the top three positions. She also gained the first prize and the Exceptional Young Talent Award at the 2022 International Music Competition “Vienna and London” Grand Prize Virtouso Competition.

In recognition of her impressive performance, Bella has been invited to receive her award and perform at Carnegie Hall, New York in March, and Glaserner Saal, Musikverein, Vienna and The Royal Albert Hall, London in April.

10-year-old Bella completed Grade 8 in Piano with distinction despite only starting to play five years ago and is now preparing to undertake a diploma. She also plays the cello and won third prize at the Asia Pacific Musicians Association (APMA) competition in 2021.

Please join us in congratulating Bella on another inspiring achievement.  Enjoy this piece by Bella performing Allegro Moderato First Movement from Sonata in A Flat Hob.46 by Joseph Hyden.
